After the storm:
debris, washouts, repairs.

Windstorms drop limbs and brush across the drive. Downpours wash out the surface and plug culverts. Once everyone’s safe, here’s how to sort out what needs doing and in what order.

Safety first

Stay clear of anything near power lines, and of hanging or leaning limbs and trees. Call the utility or 911 for downed lines. Dangerous or large tree work is for a licensed, insured arborist or timber faller. We don’t take down live trees, but we do the ground work around it.

Document before you move anything

If you plan to file an insurance claim, take photos and short video of damage before anything is moved. Keep receipts. A claims adjuster will want to see what it looked like.

What we handle

  • Debris haul-out. Downed branches and brush hauled away by the trailer load, from drives, yards and fence lines.
  • Brush and limb clearing on the ground after a tree service has taken the tree down.
  • Washout repair. Regrading the surface, rebuilding the crown and adding rock where it washed away.
  • Culvert and ditch cleanout when the storm packed them with silt and debris.
  • Stump removal where a tree came down and left a stump in the way. We pull stumps with the excavator, not grind them.

What gets done first

  1. Access. Getting the drive passable so emergency vehicles, deliveries and your own trucks can get through.
  2. Water. Culverts and ditches, before the next storm makes it worse.
  3. Surface repair. Once the ground is firm enough, the regrade and new rock.
  4. Cleanup. Debris and stumps, on a schedule that fits your property.

Where to go next

See how we fix a washed-out driveway, ditch and culvert clearing, and stump grinding vs. pulling. Our demolition and haul-out page and tractor and skid-steer work page cover the equipment and scope.
